Finals

It's the last day of Pick Me Up, and I think we're all feeling some equal parts relief and sorrow. It's been a lovely stint and it's been really amazing to meet so many people and show a glimpse into our way of working and also to get to know and hang out with the other exhibitors.

So finally we feature our last special item, a fabric piece designed by Joe Gilmore and printed by Workshop. Designer and sound artist (and good friend) Joe Gilmore founded Qubik studio in 2000, which specialises in typographic-led design for branding, print and digital media.

Tom and Ollie are 2 designers working together under the moniker Workshop. They specialise in print, branding, books, exhibition and web. They enjoy getting their hands dirty and like to get involved in the design process from idea to outcome, leading them to set up sister company 'Printshop'.

Jay has been working hard on his Gentle Men dolls, even getting his girlfriend to knit little hats! They're looking great.

We've also been painting up these little wooden blocks that are an invitation to play and make patterns from a selection of Nous Vous decorated squares.

Also wanted to give a big thanks to our friends who embroidered the lovely patches you see on our aprons. Will stitched the aprons himself but had to get some professionals in eventually. So cheers to 'Goodnight Jim Dear', who normally make vintage inspired lingerie, for taking some time and expertise out to embroider our apron patches and T-shirt labels.

So that's nearly it. Fresh Ones not feeling quite so fresh anymore. It's been wonderful, keep an eye out for the new Nous Vous store that will feature a similar concept! Thanks to everyone who came and said hello.

Bye.x

We've all been drawing down at the It's Nice That 'One of One' sessions this week. Nicolas has one session left (Sunday morning) and Jay and William have each done two. It's been really nice hanging out with everyone and seeing how other people work. There's so much stuff on the walls now, it's all looking really great!

Nicolas managed to cajole Rose Blake and Daniel Frost into making this collaborative piece as well...

We're having a wonderful time...

Creative Review Interview

Sneaky Pumps / Modern Sacks

Sneaky Pumps

Espen Friberg and Jessica Williams have teamed up in New York to customise this pair of plimsoles. We've been keeping in touch with both of them over the last few years, and are really pleased they could be involved.

Jessica Williams is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to running NSEW Press (www.nsewpress.com), she has had her work featured in several international publications and has exhibited widely including solo shows in New York, Barcelona, and Malmo, Sweden.

Espen Friberg was born and raised in the sleepy suburbs of Oslo, Norway but now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Here he works on various projects of illustration, graphic design and art. Before moving to America, he co-founded and ran the design studio Yokoland together with his friend Aslak Gurholt Rønsen.

Also just thought we'd reveal some 'Modern Sacks' completely hand-crafted by Nic featuring a lovely blue shoulder strap. Then hand finished (hand painted) with the holding-hands / hands-holding design.

Available in our room at Pick Me Up until the end of the week.

Tuesday's today

Today we reveal our good friend and partner Tom Hudson's cap that he made for us.

Tom used to work in Nous Vous, but one day he floated off down a misty towpath in Yorkshire and reappeared a year later as the relentlessly-touring Pulled Apart By Horses. Somehow he found the time and energy to paint this cap for us and you can don this very cap if you pop down to our Fresh ones shop.

We've been doing some drawing practice as we're all taking part in It's Nice That's 'One of One' event at Pick Me Up. Have a look at the schedule here.

And finally toosday we have some photos of Will's pots that he has thrown and painted specifically for the show. Empty Vessels indeed! Thanks, see you soon.

Kind words

From the Evening Standard's review of Pick Me Up...

'A section dedicated to collectives has frequent Burrill-esque echoes, from the warm, beautifully honed tone of the group Nous Vous...'

Thanks.x

Great Mate!

Today we reveal another one of our special items, made exclusively for Fresh ones at Pick Me Up. We bought Nathaniel Russel (Crooked Arm) a ukulele kit and we drew on it for us. We've never met Nathaniel but we can't wait till we get the opportunity to do so. We've been fans of his for a while now and we can feel the good vibes floating through the screen from his blog and can't wait to get those vibes in three dimensions. For now we can vibe off his cosmic song.

Nathaniel is an artist and musician based in Indianapolis, USA. He is extremely prolific and his simple and direct drawings are a constant inspiration to us. Check out his blog for almost daily glimpses of new work.

Yet more great mates are these Gentle Men, made from scratch by Jay and hand painted within our temporary studio they are on sale at Pick Me Up now! Have a good Monday. Sun.x

Sun-days a day

It was a super busy day yesterday and it was super nice to meet lots of people. Our T-shirts are selling well and keeping us busy! Here is the fruit of Matt's labour from yesterday. IT is now for sale in our shop, check out those curves! Really lovely stuff, big thanks to Matt for coming down and painting it in the space, really chuffed to have some great friends be a part of our Fresh Ones. We'll be showing off the other specials that some special people have made for us over the next few days.

So today we're busy making t-shirts, as and when we sell them, which is proving to be fairly regularly! Here's some snaps of Jay painting up one of our 'books' and some first person shots of me tackling my t-shirt design.

Here are some photos of some photos of the items that are available at our shop. Adjective noun wooden books, and hand painted pots, thrown by myself on the wheel. All painted up and finished in our Fresh Ones Studio. Good Day!

GO!

We're Go, hello.

We set up our room and opened feeling super stoked on Wednesday night. Already met some lovely people and we want to meet more!

We're really chuffed with the room with a lot of people already saying that it offers a space of calm from the hubub (hub bub?) of the rest of the show. The aforementioned bub is a great one though, the standard of work this year seems way higher and tighter.

We're been working in the space to replace the bits we've sold and finishing off some of the objects that required an extra bit of care and attention.

Here are some photos of the room to whet you up, over the week we'll show you some of the specific items we're selling, so stay peeled, you get your peeled ones down here!
